Annual Report 2021

Letter from the Executive Director and President of the Deliberative Council

In the second year of the covid-19 pandemic, 2021 was also a year marked by great challenges. With the spread of variants of the virus, the epidemic reached alarming numbers of infected people, hospitalizations and deaths in Brazil and around the world. The humanitarian, social and economic effects were, once again, catastrophic. This is in addition to the opportunism of some segments of society to use the epidemic as an excuse for environmental degradation and violence against traditional and indigenous populations.

In this context, PROMUNDO dedicated itself to strengthening health, social assistance and education policies, and directed significant efforts to strengthen the ancestral cultures of care, fatherhood and early childhood of traditional and indigenous populations in the Amazon. This is in addition to continuing its humanitarian actions to distribute food and personal hygiene materials and prevent Covid-19 in low-income communities in large urban centers.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the partnership of so many other government organizations, civil society organizations, the business sector and our many supporters. Collaborative and advocacy networks also played a fundamental role in expanding the impact of our actions, such as the National Network for First Childhood (RNPI), National Pact for First Childhood (coordinated by the CNJ), Parliamentary Front for First Childhood, Network of Sport for Social Change, among others.

In 2021, PROMUNDO operated directly in five Brazilian states (Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Ceará, Rio Grande do Sul, Pernambuco and Amapá) and the Federal District. Our employees spared no effort to train more than 500 managers and government employees and directly and indirectly benefit more than 2,500 families, including riverside families and indigenous peoples.

Furthermore, after decades in a deficit situation, the organization managed to consolidate its high management and compliance standards, achieving all its organizational objectives. financial institutions with complete independence and autonomy.

Finally, PROMUNDO further expanded its global operations in collaboration with the Early Childhood Development Action Networks (ECDAN), the African Early Childhood Network (AfECN) and the University of San Isidro (USI) in Argentina.

We are sure that all efforts will be made by PROMUNDO to maintain and expand these global actions and achievements of gender equality and the redefinition of masculinities and fatherhoods.
