2011 Annual Report

Promundo

In 2011, Promundo worked to consolidate its mission in promoting gender equality and preventing violence against women and children. For its work, it was recognized as one of the organizations with the greatest impact in the field of violence against women, occupying seventh place in a ranking of 14 outstanding organizations worldwide.

The MenCare global campaign, coordinated by Promundo and Sonke Gender Justice, was launched in Washington/DC and South Africa to engage men in care and fatherhood. The methodologies of Programs H and M were disseminated on a large scale in Brazil and other countries. A new front of action in Africa, aimed at the economic empowerment of women, deserves to be highlighted.

In Brazil, a gender equity portal and a virtual learning environment were launched to train education professionals. Internationally, Promundo has developed technical assistance for organizations that work to involve men in gender equality.

The research area carried out analyses, systematized and evaluated the impact of projects related to the themes: gender, masculinities, homophobia, violence against women and sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.
