Annual Report 2022
This is the 2022 Annual Report, which summarizes the activities carried out in 2022.
Promundo is a Brazilian non-governmental organization, founded in 1997, that seeks to promote gender equality and prevent violence with a focus on the involvement of men and women in the transformation and redefinition of masculinities. Over these 26 years on the road, the institution has come to understand that renewal is necessary within the scope of its work with civil society, understanding that there are many forms of masculinity and fatherhood that are expressions of different cultural dynamics and understandings of affection and care.
Promundo works, therefore, with the aim of making these fatherhoods and masculinities more active and participatory within their contexts and cultures, aiming at gender equality and the eradication of violence resulting from these inequalities. Promundo operates in its projects in a way that deeply understands the contexts in which it operates, based on scientific parameters supported by social sciences and within the scope of the third sector.
We understand that each and every one of us – women and girls, men and boys, society as a whole – benefits from gender equality and active parental participation. Promundo works to promote gender equality and build a world free from violence involving men and boys in partnership with women and girls.
Promundo develops internationally recognized research in the field of gender, masculinities, diversity, violence and health and we carry out evaluations to measure the impact of our work on transforming the attitudes of men and women. Through pilot interventions and campaigns, we seek to encourage men and women to question gender stereotypes, so that they can act as agents of change and promote violence prevention in their communities.
We bring together our experience, formed from impact assessments of our work, and promote actions in partnership with governments, companies, civil society organizations, international organizations and networks, aiming to guide, influence and strengthen public policies.
