The Promundo Institute received an award from the CNJ




On 12/03/2019, Tuesday, the winners of the public selection of good practices for early childhood received awards from the National Council of Justice (CNJ). During the National Pact for Early Childhood Seminar. The first three places in the categories “Companies”, “Government”, “Justice System” and “Organized Civil Society” went on to the next step of the program, which is the dissemination of practices.


The public call for Selection, Awards and Dissemination of Good Practices related to the promotion of rights and early childhood care was launched in July, as one of the actions of the project “Justice Begins in Childhood: strengthening the role of the Justice System in promoting rights for integral human development”.


Winners


In the Companies category, the winner was Ateliê Cata-Ventos, from Rio de Janeiro, with the participatory education project in early childhood education. “We understand that children are ready beings. What she can do today is what she can do. Early childhood lasts forever. It is during this period that values are planted and the most expensive bonds are formed”, said pedagogical coordinator Rachel Pepe Reis. She asked the Judiciary that teachers be taken into consideration in discussions about public policies. “The first place children go is to school. And they need support to deal with the children's baggage, who, despite being small, are full of emotional and family problems, insecurities and family expectations. The school works with the pedagogy of listening. Listen to the schools,” he said.


In second place, Nossa Senhora Preschool, also known as Envolve, was awarded the initiative “My, your, our feelings”, in São Paulo. Thirdly, the Applik Vaccination Clinic, in Primavera do Leste (MT), with a project to humanize and manage pain when administering vaccines.


In the “Government” category, the Health Department of Rio Grande do Sul won first place, with the practice “Promotion of rights for women deprived of liberty and their children: the experience of Primeira Infância Melhor (PIM) in Rio Grande do Sul South". The project's state coordinator, Gisele Mariuse da Silva, said that the CNJ's recognition opens up other opportunities to increase the number of people served.


The PIM has existed since 2003, but began to be applied to the prison population in 2012. With the advent of the Legal Framework for Early Childhood, in 2016, it also began to serve the extended family of prisoners. “Our concern is with children in vulnerable situations. We serve a large number of families, but we can still grow. We are concerned that the number of prisoners has also been rising in recent years, but we are privileged to work on a transformative project, which can bring hope for the future of children”, he claimed.


In second and third place were the Municipality of Boa Vista, with the practice Programa Família que Acolhe; and the Municipal Department of Education of São Paulo, with the CEI Amigo Do Peito Campaign, respectively. An honorable mention was also given to the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance, Persons with Disabilities and Human Rights of the city of Campinas for the Municipal Plan for Early Childhood of Campinas.


In the “Organized Civil Society” category, the Institute for the Defense of the Right to Defense – IDDD, received an honorable mention, with the practice Mutirão Mães Livres: Combating Female Incarceration and Protection of the Maternal Bond in the State of São Paulo; and the Intensive Walking Practice in Early Childhood for Children with Disabilities, from the Association of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional of Pará de Minas Gerais.


In the award, first place was the Promundo Institute, operating in the Federal District and Rio de Janeiro, with the practice Program P – Manual for the Exercise of Fatherhood and Care. The president of the institution, Miguel Barbosa Fontes, highlighted the difference that the project has made in the lives of so many parents, who discovered the importance of their presence in the lives of children. “I thank our team, my family and my children, who gave me the opportunity to be and feel like a father,” he said.
