Between the months of June and July, the Sem Vergonha Campaign had mobilization activities in four schools in the state education network in Rio de Janeiro and has already been launched in two of them. Each school received a gender and sexuality awareness workshop as a way of mobilizing and preparing the group of students responsible for running the campaign.
The Engenheiro Bernardo Sayão State School, in Taquara, Rio de Janeiro, was the first to launch the campaign this year, after a series of preparatory meetings. On June 18, the group of students responsible presented three sketches to the school that addressed issues such as the use and purchase of condoms, dialogue with parents about sexuality and dating relationships among young people.
Then, it was the turn of Colégio Estadual Professora Maria Terezinha De Carvalho Machado, in Campinho, Rio de Janeiro, to launch the campaign. After a poster workshop held on June 23rd, the group of student multipliers of the campaign held an occupation with posters and videos on August 5th, which addressed sexual diversity to problematize the offensive messages directed against LGBT young people at school, bringing messages that sought to empower this audience and promote respect for sexual diversity.
The next schools to launch the campaign, still in 2015, will be CIEP 449 Governador Leonel de Moura Brizola, in Charitas, Niterói and Escola Estadual Orozimbo Nonato, in Higienópolis, Rio de Janeiro.
After the launches, which serve to make schools aware of the campaign, a larger group of students from each school will undergo more in-depth training on gender and will develop an action plan to be put into practice in schools in the second semester.
