In the 2000s, the infant mortality rate fell by 30% for children under 1 year of age and 29.7% for children up to 5 years of age. In the same period, the percentage of children up to six months old fed exclusively with breast milk increased by 320% and there was a 33% reduction in child labor. Despite bringing positive data, the 3rd Report “ A Brazil for Children and Adolescents ”, presented by Fundação Abrinq-Save the Children , last week, expressly concludes: despite the achievements, there is still much to be done. “We need to turn our attention to the challenges related to the quality of education and increasing access to early childhood education, among others. It is also necessary to accelerate investments in new daycare centers – a right for children and families alike”, explains the Foundation’s Programs and Projects Manager, Denise Cesario.
