Promundo was the winner of the fourth edition of the Juscelino Kubitschek Regional Merit Award for the Development of Latin America and the Caribbean offered by the Inter-American Development Bank. The award recognizes organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean with outstanding contributions to social and economic development in the region.
“It is an honor and a huge pleasure for Promundo-Brasil to be one of the institutions that won the 2015 JK Award, both for recognizing its past trajectory in promoting gender equality in the region and for its commitment to expanding Promundo’s work in the future”, said Tatiana Moura, Executive Director of Promundo-Brasil.
Promundo together with the Ecuadorian Fund Populorum Ecuador were selected in the Social, Cultural and Scientific category, each organization winning 50 thousand dollars. The award in the Economy and Finance category went to the Haitian organization Fokonse.
The award was created in 2008 in connection with the IDB's 50th anniversary celebrations to highlight its commitment to supporting efforts to reduce poverty and inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean.
