Promundo launches campaign to prevent the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents during the Ball Festival in Morro dos Prazeres

The campaign 'It's not fun, it's sexual exploitation against children and teenagers''

arrives at Morro dos Prazeres, on the 3rd of July during the Ball Festival, an action promoted by the German organization GIZ (Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit), which mobilizes children and teenagers in sporting activities during the FIFA World Cup.

On the 3rd, a football tournament will take place, as well as a “pipaço” promoted by the NGO CIEDS, which will address the culture of peace. Promundo will publicize campaign materials to prevent sexual exploitation, draw prizes and bring a group of clowns who will address the public and perform to draw attention to the prevention of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in the community.

“The idea is to raise awareness among the community about the various naturalized and invisible aspects of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. ESCCA is very little discussed in these popular spaces because it is taboo, but it is very present in a silent way and should be discussed', explains Communication coordinator, Letícia Serafim.

The Ball Festival has been involving around 200 children daily in sports and educational activities in Morro dos Prazeres since June. The objective is to make children from the community experience the World Cup from a different perspective and also discuss topics relevant to their reality such as the environment, gender and culture of peace.

The event will be on the barrier court from 9:30 am to 4 pm, in Morro dos Prazeres.
