President Lula supports the bill to end physical and humiliating punishments

In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Child and Adolescent Statute, President Lula forwards a bill to the National Congress that guarantees the right of children and adolescents to be educated and cared for without the use of corporal punishment or cruel and degrading treatment.


What the Bill proposes:


– Guarantees the right of children and adolescents to be educated and cared for without the use of any form of violence.– Considers corporal punishment or cruel and degrading treatment as a violation of the physical and psychological integrity of children and adolescents.– Proposes special attention to those adults who have difficulty finding non-violent ways in the process of educating and caring for children and adolescents.– Promotion of educational campaigns, the inclusion of the topic in school curricula, the integration of actions, the continued training of professionals in the Rights Guarantee System to support and encourage peaceful conflict resolution practices.(source: Rede Não Bata Eduque website)
