Play+ brings together parents, children and teenagers for positive education

Last weekend the Play+ Campaign: creating bonds for respectful education was launched in Guararapes and Morro dos Prazeres. Around 200 children, teenagers and parents participated in campaign activities on Saturday and Sunday (8 and 9 November).

The campaign uses the concept of play as a way to prevent violence against children and adolescents. Furthermore, the act of playing helps in child development, in the formulation of concepts and in the child's ability to resolve conflicts and is a privileged moment for the exchange of affection and trust between parents and children. On the other hand, playing ends up realizing another essential childhood right, which is the right to access the street and the city. The Brincar+ campaign also aims to help promote safe spaces not only at home, but on the street for children and teenagers.

Among the campaign's actions are games such as the memory game Brincar+, which brings messages for positive education, a kite workshop that, in addition to teaching how to make kites, gives tips on how to make the game safe for children and various games such as jumping rope, dominoes, body paint, ball in the clown's mouth, elastic, soap bubbles, costumes, etc.

Parents of children up to 12 years old received booklets for a positive and egalitarian education, while parents of teenagers received a booklet that seeks to encourage dialogue in relation to sexuality and sexual and reproductive health of young people. Parents also received campaign bags and t-shirts. Children and teenagers received gifts such as squeeze bottles, t-shirts, bags and stickers. For young people, an agenda was produced with messages on: prevention, the myth of the first time, drugs, violence prevention, human rights, racial diversity, bullying, sexual orientation, among other topics in the youth universe and a truth game that encourages dialogue and breaking taboos around sexuality.

The streets, bars and commercial establishments in the communities received

posters and coasters with messages promoting education with respect and without violence, as the campaign believes that children's education needs to be the responsibility of everyone: parents, neighbors, teachers, caregivers, police officers, health workers, etc.

During the week of November 10th and 14th, the campaign is taking place in Maré, together with the Promundo project “Praticando Esporte, Winning in Life”, which takes place at CPOR (Reserve Officer Preparation Center) with 200 children and teenagers. In December, Brincar+ will arrive in Vidigal and Cidade de Deus.
