Promundo invites partners, friends and collaborators to join the International Campaign to End Sexual Violence and Gender-Based Violence in conflict situations . The launch of the international campaign is taking place this week, from May 6th to 13th, with mobilization actions on the topic in various parts of the world. Promundo is one of the members of the Advisory Board of the initiative, which is led by the organization Nobel Woman's Initiative, and which has the participation of international organizations and working groups to prevent sexual and gender-based violence in contexts of armed conflicts.


According to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, one in three women in the world, that is, one billion women, will be a victim of sexual violence or other forms of violence during their lives. Rape and other forms of sexual and gender-based violence have increasingly become a deliberate terror tactic in situations of conflict or war, and national, regional and international commitments to end this type of rape are seriously inadequate or not in place. being applied.


The International Campaign to End Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Conflict Situations aims to bring together organizations and individuals to call for the implementation of coordinated action plans to contribute to ending this situation. The Campaign will also pressure governments to adopt specific measures to prevent and protect sexual violence and to increase existing resources aimed at supporting survivors of this type of violence and holding those responsible accountable.
