Gender Equity in Schools Portal is evaluated by participants of pilot classes in Salvador

Eight months after the start of the first class of the Gender Equity in Schools Portal (PEGE), Promundo will hold a meeting with students, professionals who work with adolescents and young people from the public education network in Salvador and the Metropolitan Region, to discuss the results from the project.

The meeting “Gender Equity Portal at School: experiences and possibilities for action” will be held on Friday, August 10th, at the Anísio Teixeira Institute (IAT), in Salvador. In addition to evaluating the project, the purpose of the meeting is to promote the exchange of experiences and debates on topics related to gender equity at school. Teachers Maria da Conceição Marques and Doralice Ferrari, who participated in the first PEGE class, will give a presentation on the application of what they learned from the course in the context of the schools in which they work. The presentations will be commented by professor Márcia Barreiros, PhD in History from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, adjunct professor at the State University of Feira de Santana and researcher at MULIERIBUS – Interdisciplinary Center for Studies on Women and Gender Relations at the State University of Feira from Santana. Another highlight is the presence of professor Lícia Mascarenhas, who has participated in the project since its launch, has already tutored two classes and will also present her evaluation of the Portal.

According to Danielle Bittencourt, project assistant at Promundo, the event is a great opportunity to bring greater feedback on the portal's potential as a distance training tool, which has already been positive due to online reviews. “It is the opportunity to discuss what can improve the Portal and generate greater motivation to continue the work”. In addition to exchanging experiences, Promundo will distribute materials related to the themes covered by the project: the “Guide for adolescents, young people and sexuality education” and the game “In your place”.

Students will receive course certification and the event will end with a cocktail party.
