Executive director of Promundo receives CES award offered by the University of Coimbra

The book New Wars. Spaces, identities and spirals of armed violence , by the executive director of Promundo Tatiana Moura received the CES award offered by the Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra – Associated Laboratory. The award is aimed at young Portuguese-speaking researchers (up to 35 years old) and aims to recognize studies that contribute to the development of Portuguese-speaking scientific communities in the social and human areas.


The Jury of the 7th edition of the CES Prize for Young Portuguese-Speaking Social Scientists was made up of the CES Director, Boaventura de Sousa Santos, and professors Cristiana Bastos (Institute of Social Sciences), Graça Carapinheiro (ISCTE), Leonardo Avritzer (Federal University of Minas Gerais) and Teresa Cruz e Silva (Eduardo Mondlane University).


With a degree in International Relations from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, a Master's degree in Sociology from the same Faculty and a PhD in Peace, Conflict and Democracy from the Jaume I University, in Spain, Tatiana Moura took over the executive board of Promundo in 2011. In recent years she has coordinated projects on the involvement of women and young women in contexts of armed violence, particularly in Latin America, of which the most recent project Women and armed violence stands out. War strategies against women in non-war contexts , a study on Rio de Janeiro, San Salvador and Medellin, funded by the Ford Brazil Foundation. In 2005, she published Between Athens and Sparta. Women, Peace and Armed Conflict ; in 2007, Invisible Faces of Armed Violence. A Case Study on Rio de Janeiro ; in 2009, Auto de Resistência. Reports from family members of victims of armed violence ; and in 2010 New Wars. Spaces, Identities and Spirals of Armed Violence.


In addition to Tatiana, André Rubião was also awarded for the Participatory University study. An analysis based on the Citizenship Hubs Program.
