Protection Policy for People in Vulnerable Situations
Promundo
There are two main documents that govern this Policy for the Protection of People in Vulnerable Situations. Firstly, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and, secondly, within Brazilian legislation, the Child and Adolescent Statute (Law nº 8,069/1990) and, at the international level, the International Convention on Human Rights of child. Furthermore, the terms of this policy are also based on the provisions of the Statute of the Elderly (Law 10,741/2003), the Statute of Persons with Disabilities (Law 13,146/2015) and, above all, the Federal Constitution, which establishes that “it is the duty of family, society and the State guarantee to children, adolescents and young people, with absolute priority, the right to life, health, food, education, leisure, professionalization, culture, dignity, respect, to freedom and family and community coexistence, in addition to keeping them safe from all forms of negligence, discrimination, exploitation, violence, cruelty and oppression” (Art. 227 of CF/88). Promundo and all those for whom this policy is intended must respect and promote the defense of the rights of children, adolescents and adults, acting in accordance with protection policies and statutes.
