P Online Program Manual

Promundo

In March 2020, Brazil was affected by the Corona Virus Pandemic. Since the end of 2019, other countries were being affected by COVID 19, with very frightening numbers of victims, including people who died. As much as there was empathy and solidarity on our part towards those going through this great evil of our century, there was no real dimension of the chaos that this virus would bring to the Brazilian population. When leaving the office on Friday, 13/03, I said goodbye to my colleagues, defining that, initially, we would remain in quarantine for 15 days, just as the Rio de Janeiro State Department of Education had defined in relation to students' vacations. . This reality soon changed.

The country has changed! We understand that this period should be longer, as the impact of the virus was greater than imagined. O
Promundo decided, from the outset, to follow the World Health Organization standards related to social isolation and COVID 19 prevention protocol.

At the same time, we had an impasse related to the projects and activities we developed with financing and institutional partners related to the method of continuity of actions. The first
The decision taken in relation to projects with a community impact was not to distance ourselves from the target audience, starting to serve remotely, in this case, the distance would be physical and not social. Then, we continue
together, but in another format. The first step was to contribute emergency aid, through inputs, to families who found themselves in precarious situations. At the same time, we decided to virtualize all the actions we had in progress until that moment. With Program P it was no different. There was an ongoing program with men on Paternity and Care and other projects were starting, so the alternative was to create the P online Program as a strategy to continue working with men from the perspective of participatory Paternity. The alternative worked. Men were able to count on activities that helped them, in this time of Pandemic, to take better care of their sons and daughters. Now, we present this methodology in a booklet format for working with parents remotely. This material is based on Program P, a methodology developed by Promundo and partners. We do not consider in-person work disposable, on the contrary, we emphasize its importance and necessity. However, we understand that when it is not possible to arrive due to numerous adversities, the P on line Program can methodologically correspond to the work with men to provide care, the development of children in Early Childhood and the promotion of gender equality.
