Tackling Racism and Gender Inequalities – Methodology Guide
Maria Corrêa E Castro, Ana Nery Correia Lima, Raquel Rodrigues De Oliveira, Luciano Ramos, Luiza Tanuri, Promundo
Aiming to create spaces for reflections on our daily actions, about who we are and where we come from, the notebook: “Facing Racism and Gender Inequalities” has as its main function to construct affirmative and true images of the black population and their historical and continuous contributions to the formation of Brazilian society.
The material proposes to contribute to the empowerment of black adolescents and young people in their social interactions, as well as calling for reflection and debate; white adolescents and young people – communities, families,
groups, relationships between peers – based on a circular and horizontal education process from a perspective of historical appropriation, resignification of their realities and creation of new future panoramas, including dialoging with gender issues seeking to reflect on ways of being that are socially ( re)produced by all people in society.
The guide is part of a set of materials developed by Instituto Promundo in partnership with KNH Brasil, Comic Relief and Alegria Ahoi, which make up a collection designed to support the work of educators with adolescents and young people in reflecting on the issues that involve gender, race, diversity and culture in formal and non-formal education spaces.
